Global Day of Service
Globally, 811 million people struggle with food insecurity. Together with our franchise partner, FranklinCovey, we acknowledge that people cannot achieve their best if they and their loved ones are constantly hungry and worried about where their next meal will come from. Every year, FranklinCovey partners worldwide devote themselves to a day of service that nourishes their communities and exemplifies our mission to enable greatness in people everywhere.
Raiser, management training and consultants, committed two weeks to serving two local community initiatives: The Homeless of Nairobi, a team that works to source basic necessities for some of Nairobi’s homeless, and Team Pankaj, a group that provides weekly meals to up to 1,300 women and children in the Soweto slum.
Working with the leaders of The Homeless of Nairobi foundation, we addressed some of their key needs including: providing meals, helping furnish the library with carpets and cushions for the children to sit on, as well as completing the installation of a double sink with tapped water. The tapped water and sink will save the community time and money by granting them their own source of water, enabling them to wash food, and improving hygiene standards as they don’t have to reuse water.
Working with the leaders of the Team Pankaj initiative, we funded their food and drink supplies for that week and served meals two days out of the week to over 800 children.
